The 4th Annual CAID Softball
Tournament and Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, August 13 at
Sunshine Park in West Seneca. Head to our
softball page to see
what's coming up this year, plus there are recaps and photos from prior tourneys.
A big thank you to everyone who came out to support CAID
at the Buffalo Bisons game on July 25th. Not only did we raise money for CAID,
but we met a lot of great people too! For photos from the event, head to our
Facebook page.
CAID spoke at quite a few schools this spring, reminding students of the
dangers of drinking and driving. We spoke to Mount Mercy on May 3
and
Alden High School on May 6, Maple Grove High School on May 13, South Park High School on May 20. All students
received a brochure telling them about CAID and NEW this year - a great looking
wristband! For photos from, head to our
Facebook page.
Email deanna@karenscrusade.org if
you'd like to invite CAID to your school or if you're interested in taking part
in the CAID Softball Tournament. You can also stay updated on everything
CAID is doing by heading to our
Facebook page.
2010 Events
- Thanks to
all the students and staff at Eden High School, South Park High School,
Springville Griffith Institute, and Orchard Park High School who welcomed CAID in 2010.
2009 Events
- CAID also wants to say thank you to all who
supported them at the Walden Galleria Mall back in December of 2009.
Officers from the Cheektowaga Police Department showed shoppers the
intoxicated goggles while staging sobriety tests, and volunteers from Mount
Mercy Academy, West Seneca West, and Crusade Against Impaired Driving teamed
up to remind everyone to drive safe this
holiday season. We were able to raise more than $160 for CAID - that
money will go toward educating the community about the dangers of DWI. A
big thank you to Cindy Henning (pictured here in the red shirt) for all her
help!

- Deanna Russo and CAID were honored on Thursday, November 12,
2009 at the
Mt. Mercy
Honors Dinner at Romanello's South in Hamburg. Deanna received the Spirit of Mercy Award.
- Crusade Against Impaired Driving, Inc.
is dedicated to spreading the anti-DWI message
and encouraging all young people that there are alternatives to drinking and
driving. We spoke at several schools in October,2009 to commemorate Red Ribbon
Month, and we're happy to say all the students who heard the message were
very receptive. Here's hoping that something Deanna said will stick in
their minds next time they're tempted to drink and drive or get into a
vehicle with an intoxicated driver. There are safer options to DWI.
Here are some of the schools we spoke to:
Sophomores at South Park High School on October 7
Mount Mercy Academy (full school assembly) on October 9
Students at Trocaire College on October 23
Students at West Seneca West on October 28
Deanna spoke at 8-10 different schools in the
spring of 2009.
